API management services

We at Mashery specialize in API management and to us that means that APIs should be treated as products.  This is not something that is obvious.  An API can seem like an obscure piece of programming, but if treated properly, it is not only a powerful piece of technology, but also a powerful business tool.  In order to fully explore this topic, we are launching an “API as Products” blog series, of which this is the first of several weekly posts.

We are clearly far past the point of having to explain the benefits of API management and services, but there are still specific aspects where more attention is merited. In particular, partners.

Talk of the cloud has been around for several years now.  Up to know, however, the majority of cloud usage has come from “transformational companies” (11% of companies accounted for 44% of cloud adoption in 2010).  This is beginning to change, however. 

Today we are announcing our new version of the Mashery API Management platform and a reseller partnership with Intel.  Intel will be offering the Mashery portal, analytics and developer management tools, optional access to the developer network and our strategy services and developer outreach teams. We got a nice little note in our inbox recently. It was from Visa, but it had nothing to do with our credit limit (eye-rolls and drum kicks appropriate).

“Congratulations on validating compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard,” it said. “The Visa Global Registry of Service Providers - PCI DSS Validated Entities. . . acknowledges service providers that have shown their commitment to security by meeting the requirements of the PCI Standard.  We appreciate your continued support and commitment to safeguarding the payment industry.”
